Our Fable

Every great story begins with people, and Fork & Fable is no different

Here Is Our Fable

Every great story begins with people, and Fork & Fable is no different. Born from a love of food, community, and connection, our vision has always been simple: to create a place where good food, warm hospitality, and shared experiences come together.

At Fork & Fable, we believe dining is about more than what’s on the plate; it’s about the laughter around the table, the stories told over a glass of wine, and the moments that become memories. That’s why we prioritise people over product, celebrating both our guests and our team who bring this place to life.

Our fable is one of togetherness. With thoughtful menus crafted from quality ingredients — sourced locally where possible and selected more broadly where they enhance the experience. We invite you to gather, share, and write your own chapter with us.

Good Food | Shared Stories | Unforgettable Moments

We're a family

Fork & Fable isn’t just a restaurant — it’s our story. Together, we’ve combined our passions, experience, and dreams to create a place where food, people, and stories come together. Every visit is an invitation to share in that story — our fable — and create your own unforgettable moments.

Prioritising People Over Product

With us, food and drink are just the beginning – it’s the warmth, laughter, and connection that define us. Our mission is simple: to create moments that matter, where people take centre stage and shared experiences are our most cherished product.

Our vision is to create a place where stories are shared, friendships grow, and unforgettable moments are made. With every dish, every smile, and every gathering, we invite you to be part of our fable.

Kody North - Managing Director

“Hospitality has always been my dream. From a young age, I imagined owning a restaurant, a place where people could gather, share food, and create memories. My journey through Marlborough’s restaurants shaped me into the leader I am today.

Fork & Fable is the realisation of that dream. For me, it’s about more than food — it’s about people. I want to build a place where staff feel valued and guests feel at home, a space defined by connection, care, and unforgettable moments.

Outside the restaurant, I’m a Marlborough local who loves cooking, hosting with Adam, and enjoying life with our dogs, Echo and Bella.”

This is my fable: a lifelong dream come true and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Adam Kuyf - Director & Duty Manager

“I’ve spent my whole working life in the grocery industry, where I developed not just an appreciation for food, but also for the people who make it possible. My true passion has always been people: growing them, supporting them, and building strong workplace cultures.

While my background isn’t in hospitality, what drew me here was Kody’s passion and the chance to be part of something special. Hospitality has this unique ability to bring people together, and Fork & Fable is exactly the kind of place where food, community, and stories all meet.”

This is my fable: one of food, people, and growth. I’m excited to help shape a place where both our team and our guests feel truly at home.

Jo North - Director

“Business has always been in my blood. I grew up in the world of supermarkets as a second-generation business owner, making Kody the third of that generational business tree and eventually helped transition our family from grocery into hospitality. Together with my siblings, we built and grew well-known venues like local venues like Speights Ale House and The Good Home.

My style has always been more behind the scenes than on the floor. I believe in steady governance — ensuring the right structures and foundations are in place so the team can shine. For me, it’s about supporting people with clarity and stability, giving them the tools and confidence to succeed.”

This is my fable: one of family, legacy, and steady support.

Kris North - Director

“I’ve always been hands-on. Early in my career, I ran my own panel beating business before making the decision to take on one of my most important roles — being a stay-at-home dad to Kody. When the time was right, I joined the family supermarket and played a part in growing what my wife’s family had built.

After the supermarket was sold, I continued with the industry, managing produce departments across different stores. That role gave me nearly three decades of experience in the grocery industry, while also deepening my appreciation for fresh ingredients and the people who work so hard to produce them.

Now, after 27 years in the grocery industry, I’m ready for a fresh challenge. At Fork & Fable, I support Kody and the wider team with admin, maintenance, and a steady pair of hands to keep everything running smoothly.”

This is my fable: a story of hard work, family, and a love for good food, and I’m proud to bring it into this next chapter.
